I am not sure how clean this format is, but I don't want to waste time copy pasting all of it from OneNote, so there we are.
Part of my daily routine is to play vs solution in GTO+ solver. I always play for 15-30mins and analyse the biggest mistake I made. For some reason I felt like sharing that on here. If there will be some interesting discussion about hands and approach to spots I will continue doing that. It's always good to get more minds working together and trying to figure out this game.

Long time since the last post, as usual, but here we are. I am currently having a week off grinding, as I feel a little bit burnt out and tired. Current situation with Coronavirus, lockdown, launch of Aurora on PS (it's shit and we can't multitable as we were = less rake paid = RIP PokerStars), protests in Poland against government as well as PartyPoker leaving Polish market in December and very busy schedule was draining my energy and I needed a break. I am trying to stay healthy both physically and mentally. I started working out daily and running, quit drinking and limited caffeine intake as well. Nothing too crazy, as I feel like a stiff old man, but we are improving day by day. I felt like I needed a change, as I was feeling very tired most days. I also subbed to headspace and started meditation yesterday. I hope I can keep it up and stay more energized during those tough times. Winter is coming as well, which usually means staying even more inside and feeling more and more depressed. I was also thinking about joining a mindset community soon as well as getting a poker coach / joining poker webinars. I am currently researching and looking for options out there.
I am very strongly considering moving to Malta and settling in there, as I really liked the environment and positivity on that island. This needs to wait until Covid is done making damage and locking people in houses. Pokerwise I am not very happy with volume I have put in since the last post as well as time spent on studying my own game. I wish I was more organised so I could combine coaching, playing and studying better. As for now, I am mainly focusing on coaching Standard Backing players and limiting individual coaching. I developed a nice weekly schedule for studying / fitness / playing / coaching. I hope I can stick to all of it and adapt new schedule rather quickly. I will also stop reading news / scrolling IG. This is something I quit a while back but because of recent events and feeling a little bit down, I came back to it. Since my last post I was fortunate to win couple tournaments and make couple buyins, but I am not focusing too much on results, I feel a little bit disappointed with the amount of work I put in last 2 months. It will change if I stick to my new schedule and stay healthy along the way. It's a journey in which all we can do is take baby steps to become better version of ourselves day by day. Peace! Hello guys, I felt like it's time for a update, mostly because of recent events. I am proud to announce that after over a year and a half of working with Standard Backing as a coach I got promoted to SNG head coach position. I will be responsible for all things SNG related within the stable and I also got more players. New responsibilities will force me to cut down on the amount of coachings I do weekly. I decided to stick to my hourly and got rid of discounts for now. New position will keep me very busy, so is WCOOP, so I do not have time to coach as much as I was in the past. I am constantly increasing the level of understanding of this game and I am getting tons of coaching experience, both doing 1 on 1 sessions as well as group webinars, hence the price increase. I think it's fair. https://standardbacking.com/our-coaches/english-coaches/wanderer_pro MTT journey was a little bit swingly lately, but it's something that one would expect, so it's all good. (results since last update) I'm happy with my mindset and with the level of play I am currently on. The more you study, the more you know that you know very little. It's been a lot of spots that I don't feel confident with, because MTTs are new to me, however, i strongly believe that I understand those spots better then average player on midstakes. I was very surprised to see how mediocre most players are on midstakes. I will continue to work hard on my game and plug all those leaks. Confidence level is high, I have this mentality of a athlete as well, which definiately helps with dealing with variance. My approach is that you earn money in poker while you study, playing is only an execution. I will make sure to put tons of hours of studying off tables. The future is looking good. I just regret that I didn't move to MTTs earlier in my career. Oh well, we make mistakes and we learn from them. WCOOP is not doing great, I didn't make any day 2s yet, but it's not over yet.
That was my quick update, it's late and I am tired after coaching and grinding. Wish you all best of luck in WCOOP! Stay focused. Hello again, it's been a while since my last update. This one is triggered by a player that I was deep with in big $55 last night who told me that he likes my blog and wished me comming second in that tournament. If you are reading this, GG mate, I took it down as you busted, unfortunately.
Last month or so for me was a very smooth transition from SNG to MTT. I am currently playing low and midstakes games, and I am very happy with results and progress. Confidence level is very high right now. Of course good results help to build that confidence, but I am certain that amount of work done off tables is paying off as well as amount of coachings that I gave in the last 2-3 months have impact on it too. I have been fortunate enough to run deep in couple tournaments lately which motivate me to work harder and develop further. There is a ton of spots that I am not confident in and those spots need a lot of work and a lot of solves. Luckily I am part of a team of dedicated and hard working players that I can always ask for advice and brainstorm hands. We are currently working on population research and solves with inputs from H2N range research. It seems pointless to run GTO vs GTO sims as population on low and mid stakes deviates too much from optimal. I am really happy how things developed over last couple months with a team, and I wish everyone the best of luck. I am certain everyone will hit that sunrun soon. Coaching is going extremely well too. I am getting a lot of good feedback from players and also I was recently asked to start webinars for Standard Backing team, which I work for on top of the SNG webinars which I am currently a co-host of. I also have a bunch of projects in my mind for the future about individual coaching as well as CFP programme. I really enjoy working with others and coaching. There will be an update on this relatively soon. Unfortunately, a day has only 24 hours and with long MTT sessions, coachings, GTO work with a team, reviewing my games and games of students, database reasearch, all days kind of blend together and there is not much time to do much else. There is no balance in my life right now, it's all about poker and development, but I strongly believe this is the right approach. People saying you need balance are not as successful as those who say that balance isn't that important if you want to reach the top. I learnt a lof from Patrick Leonard's podcasts, blogs, discord. I really like his approach and I think he is a goat when it comes to poker. Now, couple of recent results and EV line. The MTT grind started ~ 15 June 2020. As you can see I am running very well. EV bb/100 is only 8bb/100 which is something that I am not happy with. I developed a plan how to work on my game in the next 4 weeks and hopefully this winrate will increase. I also got rid of discount for coaching and increased coaching rates, as I would like to focus on my game a lot in the next 2-3 months and increased rates will decrease number of potential students. Unfortunately it needs to be done, my development and working on my game was always a priority, so I am sorry for that, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I wish you guys all the best, and I am sorry for not updating too much. I hope I can get better at blogging in the future. (I think I said it at least twice in the past) Peace! Hello all, it's been a while since the last post. I wasn't grinding much lately, my main focus was on coaching and studying a lot. For the past 2 months I spent around 2 hours per day on average in GTO+, looking at solutions, creating new DB SIMS, studying a lot of spots and playing vs solution. I am lucky to be around likeminded individuals that I run SIMS with and we exchange them. We manage to collect huge amount of spots over 184 flops. It is going really well, and soon, we should have full database for 15, 20, 30 and 50bb both SRP and 3bet pots. It allows me to multitable play vs solution feature in GTO+ and see where I was making the biggest mistakes postflop in HU pots. Super interesting and somewhat entertaining for me.
I also work closely with Jur who created FlipFlops, which is advanced excel spreadsheet designed to interpret data from solvers in more user-friendly manner. I totally recommend checking it out. FlipFlops video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV8YK0JNHJw&feature=youtu.be If you are interested, please contact me or Jur on Discord: wanderer_pro#2680 Sir_Djun#6502 Additionally, I was looking at my PT4 DB to find population tendencies. It's eye opening to see big data and how much POP is deviating from optimal ranges, push fold ranges, 3bets, cbetting strategy, checkraises etc. There is still hope, as there was no frequency that POP is getting right. I also decided to create some short strategy vids that I will publish in here. Nothing spectacular, just talking through one spot generally. More advanced and detailed videos will be published on my website and available to purchase in the future. Hope you guys will like some free content comming soon. This idea was inspired by another small project of mine. I decided to collaborate with Ghilley and join his stream for a coaching session. That was my first time on Twitch and there will be much more comming every Tuesday. We used old vod, because GGpoker has no hand histories. That was a little slow, but from now on all coaching sessions will be in PT4 replayer which will allow us to speed up the process. You can find a link to the coaching session below. Please make sure that you follow his yourney, as he just started his 300 day challenge. Definiately worth sweating! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/495084195 GL to all of you and stay tuned for more frequent updates! A little update for you guys. I am slacking a little bit and taking it slow during summer. I haven't been playing too much volume, but instead putting a lot efford and hours in coaching, studying, watching vids, making notes, running SIMs. Definiately my overall game is getting better and my understanding about ranges correlaction, equities and frequencies is stronger then ever. I started to really enjoy working with theory and solvers and I hope that it will pay off in the near future. This month I will still be focusing on strategy and reviewing hands. From September onwards, I will start putting more hours into grinding and all. This is results since last post:
Hello again guys. It's been a while since my last post, but I was pretty busy lately and had no motivation to post anything. I have an idea of posting few hands/week and giving my thoughts about general strategy and to look at hands from both theory and exploitative approach. I have been working a lot recently with GTO+ and run a bunch of database simulations over different stacksizes vs BB. Additionally, I have been working with nodelocking feature within the software, as on under $30 MTTSNGs population deviates A LOT from what optimal frequencies and strategies are.
Since my last post I haven't been grinding as much as during previous months, but I have put a lot of work with GTO+, focused on preflop strategies and ranges. I hope that it will pay off soon. My main game was MTTSNGs as usual, but I mixed in some MTTs as well. I also started to play on multiple sites, adding pokerstars.es and partypoker to my daily grind schedule. It's been a swingy month, in both MTTs and MTSNGs, but I feel like my overall game is constantly improving. I have been working on my BB game recently, and I found out that I was underdefending by a lot. This week my plan is to continue creating defending ranges vs variety of sizings and positions. When I have all ranges done, I will start creating reshoving ranges. It's been going really well working with a group of guys from my discord to have better understanding of BB defending and overall gameplan. I have been coaching weekly and got 2 new players to coach from Standard Backing. We have only done few sessions together, but I feel like my coaching skills are also improving. It's getting easier for me to explain my thought process etc. It might be also because of the fact that 2 new players are on a decent level, understand strategy better then average and are willing to work hard. I have also been a little better with scheduling and using my time efficiently. This is very important when I have to combine coaching, playing and reviewing my own game. The latter was lacking a bit, but I felt like coaching is improving my performance as well. So it's all good. Fitness wise, well. It's my life leak. It's getting warmer right now, so I will put my running shoes to use soon, I'd imagine. Gotta join the gym as well soon to get that blood flowing. Results from February and EV from 2019 compared with February. BB and SB still need a lot of work, but we're getting there :) Peace!
OK, time for update. I was extremely focus on grinding and working on my game from the beginning of 2019. Decided to slowly mix some MTTS into my standard MTSNGs grind schedule and it worked out pretty well so far. Games are super soft and I think that overall they are much more +EV then SNGs, as the playerpool is way worse. MTSNGs are filled with regs on the late stages, and even breakeven regs or low-roi-mass-multitabling types are killing EV, as they know push/fold game pretty well. The reason why I started adding more MTTs is also that SNG grind has been a little painful lately. Seems like I cannot win coinflips either on semi final tables or final table, but I know that this is just variance and it will all turn around. When it does, I will come back to the SNG leaderboards again :) I also grinded a little bit of cashgames on the side, or when I have hour of two of spare time. I really think that playing cashgames can help me develop as a player and have better understanding of the game. I started with NL16 and recently moved to NL25, as I developed more feeling to the games, build some basic strategy and made adjustments. I do know that I still have no idea what I am doing, as I have never played cash seriously before. And I don't plan on doing so fulltime in the future. Cash is boring.
Moreover, I have been accepted as a coach for micro and low limits MTT and SNGs by Standard Backing stable. I have 3 students that I am currently working with. I really enjoy coaching and will continue to do so both in a stable as well as on my own (check coaching section for more information). I had given a couple sessions privately through my website, and some of the students said that they see the results almost imiediately after our sessions. This makes me happy, it really does. My game overall hasn't been better. I feel very confident and, the winrate is great. This year so far, we are making EV of 12bb/100 in SNGs and MTTs. Reviewing on my own and with students helped my game tremendously. I also plan on writing down preflop and postflop solutions for MTSNGs in the future, as I have developed really good population reads and I feel like I know tendencies and gameplan of most players. It is gained by playing a lot with the playerpool, over 100k games so far! Sick. Furthermore, working with GTO+ solver helps. Talking hands over discord channel helps. Talking strategy with friends helps. Investing in sharskope gold subscription and getting sharkscope desktop HUD helps. Turning off all the distractions while grinding or working helps. Quiting facebook and instagram helps. Living poker 24/7 also doesn't hurt. Not drinking alkohol, not going out too often and taking care of diet and physical activity would definiately help. This is something I will be working on in the near future. This is a war, and we better be prepared. Some stats below. Have a nice day folks! 2018 was a decent year. I was very low mentally in the beginning as I had to move out from Malta, because the place was too expensive for me. Decided to rent a cheaper place here and it was worth it. I am really happy that I started blogging, created my own website at http://www.wanderer-pro.com and developed nice community for MTSNGs in my discord channel. Results could be way better but I can’t complain overall. I have big plans for 2019. Will post my goals for this year in the next post.
Regreds for 2018. Volume is the 1st thing that comes to mind. I should be playing more. I also regred not working out this year. I was slacking a lot. 2019 will be much much better, I have many goals and feel that this will be a turn around year! |
